The history of Opium dates back to 3,400 BC when the cultivation of the poppy seed was seen in lower Mesopotamia in Southwest Asia

Cocaine, heroin, chloroform and methamphetamine are drugs that were offered to provide relief for everything from sore throats, toothache, insomnia, depression etc.

About 12% of the opium latex contains alkaloid morphine that is chemically treated to produce heroin and other synthetic medicinal drugs and opioids.

Britain waged a couple of wars known as the Opium Wars against the Qing Dynasty in China between 1839 and 1860.

In 1860 the British joined by the French forces entered the city of Beijing and burning down the Summer Palace.
