I bought several peat pellets like the pic. above. However, with the directions, it states that you are suppose to put the lid on it to create a greenhouse effect. I am NOT sure if this is "the correct" thing to do with poppy seeds. Does anybody know?

I believe that putting a humidity dome or plastic covering is a good thing to do. The poppies are vulnerable to drying out during the first few weeks. Also as the seeds are not planted very deep less than 1/2 in. or just surface sowed a humidity dome is a good idea as the surface of soil dries out fairly quickly. Though higher humidity will possibly promote damping off, fungus, fungus gnats and or mildew. Remember air flow is also very important.
